Data Deletion & Local Data Control

  • Developer / Publisher: Rigour Consulting
  • Application: RigourLedger: Tax Records (au.com.rigourconsulting.rigourledger)
  • Privacy Contact: rigour.consulting@gmail.com
  • Jurisdiction: Western Australia, Australia

1. The Local-First Principle: Zero Cloud Accounts

Unlike conventional cloud-based accounting platforms, RigourLedger does not require, create, or maintain user accounts or cloud databases. Rigour Consulting operates zero application servers that store your financial transactions, merchant names, bank CSV statements, or receipt images.

What This Means for Data Deletion: Because all your records reside exclusively inside the private sandboxed storage on your physical personal device, you have direct control over deletion of app-managed local data. There is no remote cloud account to cancel and no server database from which your records must be purged by an administrator.

2. How to Permanently Delete Your Data

You can permanently erase all application data at any time through the following methods:

Method A: In-App Reset (Recommended)

  1. Open RigourLedger on your mobile device.
  2. Tap the Settings icon or tab.
  3. Select Data Management.
  4. Tap Reset / Delete Local Data and confirm the prompt.

This action permanently destroys the local SQLCipher encrypted database, cached preferences, receipt images, and encryption keys stored in your device's Android Keystore or Apple Keychain.

Method B: Operating System App Storage Clear

  • Android: Go to device Settings > Apps > RigourLedger > Storage & cache > Clear storage (or Clear data).
  • iOS: Delete and reinstall the application, or use the in-app Reset function described in Method A.

Method C: Uninstalling the Application

Uninstalling RigourLedger from your device causes the operating system to delete the application's private sandboxed internal storage directory, including local databases, attached receipts, and temporary previews. However, on iOS, standard platform behavior may cause certain operating-system Keychain entries to persist across uninstalls unless cleared via the in-app Reset function (Method A) prior to removal. We recommend performing Method A before uninstalling if you wish to purge all device-held encryption keys.

3. Encrypted Backups, Exported Files & Operating System Backups

If you have previously exported files or enabled operating-system cloud backups:

  • User Custody of Exports: Exported files (standard CSVs, Accountant Pack ZIPs, or encrypted .rlbackup archives) reside in destinations you chose (local storage, flash drives, email, or personal cloud drives). Because Rigour Consulting never receives or hosts your exported files, deleting data inside the App cannot delete external copies. To remove them, delete the files directly from your file manager or cloud storage.
  • Operating System Cloud Backups: If your mobile device has automatic cloud backups enabled (such as Apple iCloud Backup on iOS or Android Backup on Google Drive), backup snapshots created prior to local deletion may retain application sandboxed data until those backups are overwritten, expire, or are deleted in your device OS account settings.

4. Active Subscriptions Notice

Important Subscription Note: Erasing application data or uninstalling the app does not automatically cancel an active Google Play or Apple App Store subscription.

To cancel an auto-renewing subscription, you must cancel it directly in your platform store settings:

  • Google Play: Open Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > RigourLedger > Cancel.
  • Apple App Store: Open Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > RigourLedger > Cancel.
